No one tells you how to be the perfect parent. Sure, we receive a ton of opinions, some wanted and some not, but no one can honestly tell us the exact playbook on how to be the perfect parent. The parent that guarantees raising a perfect child. We can read all the books, listen to all the experts, and yet all we can do at the end of the day is our best.

Brene Brown has a Parenting Manifesto that is fantastic, but the end is my favorite:

Northern California Maternity Photographer

I know those sleepless nights, tossing and turning and wondering who your baby will end be as they grow up or when they’ll make their grand entrance. I remember feeling the kicks and elbows to the rib and sciatic nerve pain. And I remember not being able to bend over or go upstairs without getting out of breath. Through it all, all the pain and exhaustion and uncertainty, the one thing I knew for certain and that was the love and bond I already had with each one of my babies.

It was a beautiful day during this session. I can’t wait to share more of it with you in the coming weeks.

Family is different to everyone, but what we can all agree upon is the importance of a family unit and spending the years of your life with ones you love. Documenting that bond, through the years, will be passed from generation to generation, viewed by future family members that will only know us as “great great great grandma back in 2020.” What a thing to think about!
